Amanda Castorena

Amanda is our front desk receptionist and our newest paralegal. She came to us with a strong background in administrative assistant work and customer service, both of which she cultivated at her previous position with a medical group. Additionally, Amanda is an ABA certificated paralegal who received her Paralegal Certificate in 2016 from the University of Riverside Extension Program. Prior to that she also graduated from the nearby University of Redlands in 2011 with a Bachelor's Degree in the Philosophy of Ethics and a Minor in Spanish.

Amanda's level of organization and dedication to her work is inspiring. She handles the front desk with grace and efficiency. We are extremely fortunate to have her support and we are excited to see where her legal career takes her as she continues to challenge herself within our firm.


Jordan Popp

Jordan works as a paralegal at our firm. He began working in the legal field in 2010, working as a legal secretary for a small law firm in San Bernardino. He worked primarily in bankruptcy handling both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases, but also gained experience in many other areas of the law including family and civil law. He also saw time working with several organizations and political campaigns during the 2012 election cycle.

Upon joining our firm in January of 2013, Jordan handled many different types of cases in our practice, but it soon became apparent that he had developed an affinity for estate planning. Jordan's existing knowledge and willingness to learn has helped him to advance quickly in this area. He currently is responsible for the preparation and execution of estate planning documents, along with conducting signing meetings with our clients. Jordan is known to our clients as very informative, friendly, and patient.

In his spare time, Jordan likes to stay active and enjoys reading and studying foreign languages. He also enjoys movies and has a passion for live music.


Kayna Smith Gutierrez

Kayna Smith Gutierrez is our legal secretary and Medi-Cal benefits consultant. Kayna came to our firm with experience at a record retrieval company where precision and organization is of utmost importance. Her thorough research on these cases prepared her for the job she performs today as attention to detail is optimum in her position.

Kayna has constant interaction with our clients and families as she represents them to Medi-Cal. Her patience and diligence is obvious in her work and our clients truly appreciate her effort.

Kayna graduated from the University of Phoenix with her Bachelor's of Science in Human Services. She plans on obtaining a degree in social work. She enjoys spending time with her two children and loves to cook, with the office occasionally lucky enough to sample.


Kristie Reyland

Kristie is our Case Manager and paralegal. She came to our practice with a wealth of experience, working mainly in the field of Family Law. She also has experience with personal injury, probate, and special education law. In this process she learned the fundamentals of good client care as she handled these cases from beginning to end, including preparation of petitions, motions and judgments. She also drafted discovery requests and prepared discovery responses.

Today, Kristie manages every case in our firm, ensuring that all of our clients are satisfied with our work product. She is responsible for making sure deadlines are met and is a key component in making procedures within our office to maximize productivity and organization. Her levels of dedication to both outside research and attention to detail makes her a truly vital member of the practice. In addition, she has a fantastic understanding of Medi-Cal law and has handled many cases successfully to completion. To this end, she has established excellent rapport with local government offices to make our process work easier for our employees and clients.

Kristie received her degree in Paralegal Studies from Platt College in 2004. She assists our clients as a licensed Notary Public and is a member of the Inland Counties Association of Paralegals.


Kymberly Lewis

Kymberly Lewis is our primary VA expert and paralegal. Kymberly has a wide range of talents that she has acquired from working in several different areas of law and management in her career. She has over ten years of experience in estate planning and has worked in various other fields such as immigration and restaurant management. During this time she has successfully represented her clients and is known for her outgoing personality and excellent client service.

Kymberly has a variety of responsibilities at our firm. Being our primary VA paralegal, she has to manage a large portfolio of clients as they work their way through the system. Kymberly has become not just a paralegal to the VA but also an advocate, many times going beyond the call of duty to help clients get qualified for these benefits. Her time researching and being involved with the VA has resulted in a wide understanding of procedures and communication that is vital for our clients' approval. In addition to her VA work, Kymberly also keeps busy doing trust administration and estate planning work for the firm.

In 2011 she received her degree in Paralegal Studies from Sage College and in 2005 she received her degree as Legal Administrative Assistant from Maric College (Kaplan College). She has served as a notary for over 10 years. She is also a member of the National Association of Legal Assistants and Paralegals. Kymberly volunteers her time frequently in her local community of Riverside and has also been on international service trips throughout the world, primarily in Central America and Africa. She enjoys her two children and taking care of her horses.


Lisa Daniels

Lisa serves our firm as a paralegal. She has accumulated over 33 years in the legal field starting with her employment with the San Bernardino Superior Court. She pursued her career as a paralegal gaining experience in both private and governmental law practices. Lisa has extensive experience in both transactional and litigation-related practices. For ten of these years, Lisa managed significant caseloads in the area of family law, conducting discovery, drafting pleadings, and investigating into community assets, real property chains of title, and estate inventories. Lisa also has a background in estate planning, civil litigation, bankruptcy, guardianship, conservatorship, corporate law, contracts, and probate. She has been a notary public commissioned by the State of California since 1998.

At The Elder and Disability Law Firm, Lisa primarily works in the areas of estate planning and probate. With her intimate familiarity with matters of form and procedure, Lisa is able to efficiently manage her clients' estates and guide them through the legal process.

Lisa is a member of both the Inland County Association of Paralegals and the American Legion Auxiliary.


Rick Baptist

Rick is our Business Manager. Rick has compiled years of experience in communication-centric jobs through his work history. His prior work at Public Relations firms, both in advertising and news reporting, helped to solidify his skills in writing, organization, and deadline management. In addition, he worked on several marketing campaigns and was involved in written publications in a variety of fields. This experience is well used at our firm today for his responsibilities in and out of the office.

Rick holds the unique position of being both an office manager and also representing the firm outside to our community partners. His responsibilities outside the firm include public relations and marketing, scheduling seminars, and establishing business relationships. Rick prides himself on being a conduit of information to help point both our community partners and our clients in the right direction. He frequently attends senior networking events and conventions to help further his knowledge of the industry and expand the practice. Inside the firm, Rick is responsible for maintaining the office and keeping the machine well-oiled. In addition, he also provides IT support for our server, e-mail, and database as needed.

In 2000, Rick received his Bachelor's degree in Public Relations from Pacific Union College. He serves as Program Chair on the board of The Inland Association for the Continuity of Care (IACC), the premier networking and informational association for the senior industry in the Inland Empire (iaccsocal.org). He is also a member of the Inland Empire Disabilities Collaborative (IEDC) and the Riverside Alzheimer's Task Force. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family of five and participates as President of the Board for the Loma Linda Youth Baseball Softball league.
